Who should not use treatment

## General contraindications

Prescription hair loss treatments are not appropriate for everyone. Do not use minoxidil or finasteride if any of the following apply to you.

## Minoxidil (topical and oral)

- Do not use if you are under 18 years of age.
- Do not apply to areas of the scalp that are red, inflamed, infected or painful.
- Do not use if you have known hypersensitivity to minoxidil or any component of the formulation, including natural oils in TrichoSol.
- Oral minoxidil should not be taken by people with significant heart disease, uncontrolled hypertension or fluid retention disorders, unless directed by a specialist.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should not take oral minoxidil.

## Finasteride (oral or topical)

- Finasteride is for men only.
- Women should not take finasteride. Pregnant or potentially pregnant women must not handle crushed or broken tablets due to the risk of absorption and harm to a male foetus.
- Do not use if you are allergic to finasteride or any component of the formulation.
- Finasteride is not recommended for people with liver disease unless advised by a doctor.

## Other considerations

- Do not use hair loss treatments if you are already taking other prescription medications that may interact without consulting your healthcare provider.
- Always disclose your full medical history, including any chronic conditions, allergies or medications, during the consultation.
- If you are unsure whether treatment is suitable, complete our consultation and our prescriber will advise you.

Hair loss treatment should only be initiated after clinical assessment. If any of the above applies to you, do not start treatment and contact our clinical team for further guidance.
