Why Consistency Matters - LEO Help Centre

Why consistency matters

Consistency is the single most important factor in successful hair loss treatment. Both finasteride and minoxidil work only while they are present in your system or on your scalp. Sporadic use will not provide the steady inhibition of DHT or stimulation of follicles needed to slow hair loss and may lead to poorer results.

## Why consistency matters

Hair follicles undergo long growth cycles. Treatments must be applied or taken as prescribed to exert continuous effects throughout those cycles. Topical minoxidil must be applied every day to maintain vasodilation and follicle stimulation; its effects diminish within 24 hours if applications are missed. Finasteride has a systemic effect, but missing doses allows DHT levels to rise and can reverse progress. The benefits you see after three to six months are maintained only with ongoing, regular use.

## What happens if you stop or miss doses

Stopping treatment or regularly missing doses allows the underlying cause of androgenetic alopecia to resume. DHT levels increase again, follicles miniaturise and hair loss returns. There is no permanent cure; results are maintained only while you continue the therapy. Occasional missed application will not cause immediate reversal, but repeated lapses will reduce effectiveness. Do not double your dose to "catch up"; simply resume your normal schedule as soon as possible.

## How to stay consistent

- Use your topical solution or tablets exactly as prescribed. Apply the minoxidil-based solution to your scalp once or twice daily, and take finasteride tablets at the same time every day if prescribed.
- Incorporate treatment into a daily routine, such as after brushing your teeth. Consistent timing helps develop habit.
- Use reminders or a planner if needed. Our subscription model delivers a minimum three-month supply and can be paused or adjusted, ensuring you always have medication on hand.
- Use the LEO Scalp Roller for precise, mess-free application of topical solution. Proper delivery to the scalp improves adherence and reduces wastage.
- Do not exceed the prescribed amount. More frequent application does not increase benefits and can increase side effects.

## Summary

Hair loss therapies require daily commitment. Consistency keeps DHT suppressed, maintains blood flow to follicles and allows hair to remain in the growth phase.
