What to Do If Irritation Occurs - LEO Help Centre

What to do if irritation occurs

## Recognising irritation

Mild scalp irritation can include redness, dryness, flakiness or itching around the application site. This is more common during the first few weeks of topical treatment and often subsides as your scalp adjusts.

## Steps to manage mild irritation

- Ensure you are applying the solution to clean, dry scalp skin – remove any styling products before use.
- Apply the medication exactly as prescribed; do not exceed the recommended dosage.
- If you are using topical treatment twice per day, consider reducing to once daily for a few days to allow your skin to adjust. Do not stop treatment completely unless advised by a healthcare professional.
- Allow the scalp to dry naturally; avoid blow-drying or applying heat.
- Keep the product away from broken skin or open wounds.
- Wash your hands thoroughly after applying the solution.

## Our natural TrichoSol base

LEO topical formulations use TrichoSol, an alcohol‑free base derived from plant oils such as lavender, rosemary and juniper. This base is designed to be gentle on the scalp. However, individual sensitivities are possible. If you believe you are reacting to one of the natural oils in the base, contact us to discuss alternative options.

## When to seek advice

- If irritation persists beyond a week or worsens despite the above measures.
- If you develop swelling, severe redness, blistering or pain at the application site.
- If you experience symptoms such as dizziness, shortness of breath or rapid heartbeat (these are rare).
- Women, pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, and anyone with underlying scalp conditions should consult our clinical team before continuing treatment.

Contact our support team or your prescribing clinician for tailored advice. You may need to adjust the formulation or application frequency. Do not discontinue therapy abruptly without medical guidance.
